Behind the design | An asymmetric pear and oval diamond ring
There is a distinct energy that goes into creating a piece of fine jewellery entirely from its first iteration. It requires an alignment of vision, technical considerations and creative trust. The journey for this special piece began in 2025. The brief was elegantly simple: to create a striking diamond statement band intended for the right hand - something visually captivating, organic and entirely unique to the wearer.
Here is how an abstract concept evolved from a conversation into a future heirloom.
The architecture of the layout
Every bespoke commission at our studio begins with an exploration of a client's personal aesthetic, diamond and gemstones preferences and structural styling. During this initial discovery phase, pear and oval fancy cut diamonds emerged as the definitive front-runners.
We drew loose inspiration from the staggered, off-centre aesthetic of our signature Celine toi et moi diamond earrings. While that design utilises a precise vertical alignment suited for earrings, we chose to pivot direction for the hand, re-imagining the concept into an unexpected East-West layout.

By working directly with the natural geometry of the stones, we organically mapped out the asymmetric placement. Every variable was workshopped in real time - tailoring the exact number of diamonds, playing with the scaling of the stones and adjusting the width of the band itself to ensure perfect balance on the hand. Ultimately, bespoke and custom design represents a distinct moment in time. It's intentional, considered and deeply personal. That is the core of true custom work. The piece adapts completely to the individual, rather than trying to fit into a standard template.
The bespoke experience
The real beauty of the bespoke process is the creative freedom it provides. It is an environment free from pre-set rules, where a piece can take shape entirely around the individual.
Instead, the design process is unhurried, collaborative and entirely private - often feeling less like a formal appointment and more like two close friends exploring ideas over coffee. Which was exactly the case while designing this special ring.

From concept to finished heirloom
As the layout was confirmed, it became clear that this piece was transitioning into something deeply significant. Every angle was deliberately calculated and every stone was placed with intention.
Beyond its modern aesthetic, the band carries a deeper purpose. Each detail was considered with longevity in mind, creating a piece meant to be passed down to our client's daughters one day.
Brought to life right here in Melbourne, the ring reflects the exceptional calibre of local craftsmanship, from the precision of the hand-setting to the final master polish. When we look at the finished design today, we see a piece with a permanent history, built to endure for generations.
